Product Guru Supplier Focus | Into the world of La Maison du Coco
At Product Guru we're proud to support a thriving community of independent, challenger brands. Brands across all FMCG, gift, home and specialty categories list products on our online platform and we love to share the stories behind them.
So, we talked to Rob who told us all about La Maison du Coco.
Tell us a bit about your company, its background and your products?
La Maison du Coco was founded in 2008 and is an Anglo-French family business. Based in Paris, we import the finest coconut produce from the Philippines, where it is packed at source for superior quality and flavour.
All of our products are proudly certified as Organic and Fair Trade. We add absolutely nothing extra and so maintain all the natural qualities of the coconut.
Our range includes: Coconut Water, Coconut Milk, Coconut Cream, Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Vinegar, Coconut Sugar, Coconut Flour and Coconut Chips. Recently, our Coconut Milk scooped the Best Organic Product 2020 award at the Bio A La Une awards, followed by our Coconut Cream winning the Best Organic Product in 2021.
How many people work for the business and who do you sell to?
The company currently employs 7 people. Our products are sold to many different retailers throughout France, but our largest partnership is with Biocoop, who have over 345 outlets.
Is there a specific product you are particularly proud of and why?
We are genuinely proud of our entire range and believe each product stands out from the crowd. We believe our coconut water is the finest on the market today. Our award-winning coconut milk and cream are deliciously creamy and indulgent. Our coconut sugar has a beautiful golden texture and is incredibly versatile in the kitchen. Our coconut vinegar is uniquely fermented from organic coconut water, and makes for an incredible salad dressing.
Many of our products are yet to be properly seen in the UK market, and should become hugely popular with British consumers; for example, coconut vinegar and coconut sugar.
What do you most enjoy about the business?
As the Sales Manager for the UK arm of the business, I am quite obsessed with coconuts and really enjoy all the time spent in studying and analysing the whole coconut market in the UK. I also enjoy the many challenges involved in targeting and approaching the relevant buying departments.
What do you think of the Product Guru platform? What encouraged you to use us?
I have so far been impressed with the Product Guru platform and it was an engaging time filling out my self assessments for each product. It ought to prove an innovative concept; in the hope that suppliers like ourselves can place our products more directly to the attentions of the best buyers in the business, and provide them with large amounts of detail at the outset.
