Product Guru Supplier Focus | Into the world of GTCL and the world of sustainable wellness
At Product Guru we are proud to support a growing community of small independent suppliers.
We list products across all FMCG and gifts categories and we like to share the stories behind them.
Our latest 'Supplier Focus' blog looks at Terry, at GTCL, who told us more about his business in a recent interview.
Tell us a bit about your company and its background.
Founded in Singapore in 2013, GTCL is a sustainable wellness company that aims to promote and preserve
bio-diversity in ecosystems of lesser-known tropical produce. In the process, we are helping to improve the health of our consumers, as well as the livelihoods of the farmers we work with. With a focus on stingless Trigona bees, we support the education of farmers to keep these tiny bees for crop pollination, moving them towards organic farming and thereby benefiting from the resulting increase in crop yields across endemic varieties. Our range of products include Trigona bee-pollinated crops such as activated pili nuts (www.pilipushers.com), medicinal Trigona bee honey (www.anayalife.com), all-natural skincare and other wellness products.
How many people work for the business?
We have a team of 6 people.
Who does it sell to?
We work with retailers locally and overseas.
Is there a specific product you are particularly proud of and why?
Our trigona honey and pili nut products are all award-winning by the esteemed international Great
Taste Awards. Our trigona honey products have also received many raved reviews for their curative properties.
What do you most enjoy about running your business?
Our values are founded in ensuring that our business not only provides quality products,
but also maximising social impact on the farmers we work with. Knowing that everyone
on the value chain can benefit is very rewarding for us.
What are your ambitions for your company?
We are keen to introduce our products across more international markets -
the more support we get, the more we can give back to the farmers we work with.
What do you enjoy doing during your spare time?
Meditation is key to keep us grounded (and sane), and also focused on the tasks we need to do.
We are also big foodies and love exploring new cultures through their cuisine.
What do you think of the Product Guru platform? What encouraged you to use us?
Product Guru has helped to expose our brands to a much wider audience.
The platform allows for both brands and buyers to find each other very easily.
Product Guru facilitates the introduction and the product discovery process by placing products in front of vetted buyers. Like GTCL, you can sign up to Product Guru for free today and start showcasing your own products on our platform.
